Tottenham teenager Tashan Oakley-Boothe is very much on the radar of manager Mauricio Pochettino and the rest of the first team staff after seeing his development falter due to injury problems, according to journalist Alasdair Gold.

The Football.London reporter claimed in a live question and answer on the website’s live blog (17/02, 16:20) that the 19-year-old had been struck down with a number of problems over the last 12 months that had limited his ability to progress from the youth ranks into the first team.

It is stated that his issues have not stopped Pochettino from keeping a close eye on the teen talent, who has not been seen among the first team this season after his only senior appearance to date back in 2017.

Opinion

With Tottenham constantly producing top quality young talents, suffering a setback during the developmental stage of your career is not going to help your cause one bit. It gives other young talents the chance to leapfrog you in the pecking order – much like Oakley-Boothe’s fellow midfielder Oliver Skipp has done this season – and so the 19-year-old has a fight to try and force his way into the senior setup between now and the end of the campaign. Still, it seems as though Pochettino still has high hopes for the youngster and is watching his progress with a keen interest – which will do the teenager’s confidence the world of good. Will the fans get to see him again before the end of the season? Only time will tell, but at the moment it looks as though he might have to wait until summer for his chance to prove his worth.
