OPINION
Ben Watson, Nottingham Forest’s captain for the night, did not have have the easiest night at the office in his team’s 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night and the raging reactions of the fans on Twitter are understandable. The experienced midfielder looked pretty lacklustre from start to finish and was one of those at fault for Jacob Murphy’s goal for West Brom. At this point it is quite baffling how he gets selected ahead of Claudio Yacob. The latter, a former Baggies star of course, has enjoyed a terrific season at the City Ground and is a much more effective presence in the middle of the park than the Englishman. Watson was not able to get the ball clear for the West Brom goal, which eventually allowed Murphy to divert it into the back of the net. In those sorts of situations you need your experienced players to step up and hammer the ball clear, but Watson failed to do that. You expect better from someone of his quality, not only with that one incident but with his overall performance as well.

Ben Watson at fault yet again. There was a reason why he was out of the team before MON came in. Yacob deals with that easily. #nffc

Well done Ben Watson. Why he persists in playing him in front of other players is baffling…..
