Newcastle United fans might have seen their side knocked out of the FA Cup at the hands of Watford but there was still some football for the Toon Army to consume in the shape of a mid-season friendly clash against CSKA Moscow after their warm weather training camp in Spain. However, just because it was a friendly did not mean that the Newcastle faithful were going to give their players an easy ride. Joselu, who stands at a giant 6’3″ (source: Transfermarkt) has been slammed time and again when playing in the Premier League and the criticism did not stop with his performance against the Russian side. Coming on for the second 45 minutes the Spaniard failed to impress in the slightest in his home country, passing up some great chances to put the ball into the back of the net. If this is what the fans have to look forward to if Salomon Rondon goes missing through injury or suspension then it is a real concern for Rafael Benitez. Joselu playing regularly could well be the difference between staying up and going down come the end of the season.
