Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Eric Cantona, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, John Terry – eat your hearts out. According to at least one of the Newcastle United supporters, Swiss international Fabian Schar is the best player ever to grace the Premier League. While that bold statement might be some way off the truth, the centre back was absolutely outstanding against Burnley on Tuesday night and capped off a clean sheet with one of the best goals he will ever score in his career. He has been a real steal for the Magpies since his summer arrival and alongside Jamaal Lascelles and Florian Lejeune, Rafael Benitez has a defensive trio which provides absolutely everything he could want. It seems as though the Toon Army have a new favourite and St James’ Park and understandably so. He was nothing short of exceptional and should continue to go from strength to strength in what the fans will be hoping is a long and prosperous career on Tyneside.
