Cardiff City ace Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has sent his best wishes to Kemar Roofe on Instagram after it was confirmed that the Leeds United attacker has suffered damaged knee ligaments.

Leeds announced via their official website on Monday that Roofe, 26, faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after injuring himself in the win against Swansea last week.

Ex-Wolves attacker Mendez-Laing, 26, has now taken to his personal Instagram account to wish Roofe a “speedy recovery” after it was revealed that he is set to miss a big chunk of the Whites’ remaining games of the campaign.

OPINION

Roofe is going to be such a massive miss for Leeds. He may not have been in the best form in front of goal lately, but he has been such a key player this season, especially as a spell on the sidelines earlier in the campaign saw the Whites win just two of six Championship games while he was injured. Leeds are already in a rough patch with two league wins in their last eight and West Brom could move within one point of them on Tuesday night if they beat QPR, so losing Roofe at this cage could be a massive blow. However Patrick Bamford is fit and Izzy Brown looks as though he is nearing full fitness, so Marcelo Bielsa may have gotten away with this one. Obviously Leeds would rather have Roofe fit but if there is a time for the ex-Baggies attacker to be sidelined, it would probably be now. Hopefully he can return soon so that United can win promotion with him involved.
