OPINION

There was a real sense of optimism before last night’s Champions League game against PSG at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had an unbeaten record since taking over from Jose Mourinho and had injected real spark into a listless United side.

However, they came undone on Wednesday against a classy PSG side, with the 2-0 scoreline perhaps flattering the home side, and the United supporters were fuming after a terrible display from Alexis Sanchez.

He was called upon sooner than Solskjaer would have wanted, with Jesse Lingard injured right at the end of the first-half.

Sanchez played over 45 minutes but put in one of his worst displays in a United shirt and fans were quick to let him know what they thought of him.

Even his manager admitted after the game, “I can’t do anything about Alexis. He needs to find himself as we know there is a quality player there.”

To make matters worse, Paul Pogba was sent off in the final minutes of the game and will miss the second leg as United go in search of a miracle in France in a fortnight.

Meanwhile, the United fans will be hoping that Sanchez misses out too – here are their best reactions to a shocking display from their big-money attacker:
