Aston Villa central-midfielder Aaron Tshibola has suffered an injury blow while on loan at Kilmarnock, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

The newspaper claims that the 24-year-old suffered a thigh strain during the warm-up ahead of Killie’s Scottish Cup clash against Rangers on Saturday.

Tshibola is currently on his second loan spell at Rugby Park and has made 20 appearances in all competitions for the club this season.

OPINION

Tshibola will enter the final year of his Aston Villa contract in the summer and it will be interesting to see what Dean Smith decides to do with the former Reading midfielder. Villa paid £5million for the DR Congo international in 2016, but he has only made 10 appearances in all competitions for the West Midlands club since, so no matter what happens really, the Villans will be taking a loss on him. Tshibola has done quite well at Kilmarnock. There has been talk north of the border of Steve Clarke’s side mounting a challenge for the Scottish Premiership title and Tshibola has played a major role in helping Killie become one of the top teams in Scotland. They will surely like to sign him on a permanent basis if they had the chance, but Villa are bound to want a decent fee in the summer because they paid so much for him and he’s being playing well. This injury won’t help him and he will be hoping that he can return to action soon.
