The battle for footballing supremacy in north London has been turned on its head in the past couple of years.
After a long reign at the top, Arsenal have been deposed by Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino, with current manager Unai Emery struggling with the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger.
And BBC Match of the Day host Gary Lineker believes the Tottenham domination is almost complete.
He’s made a huge claim that just one Arsenal player would get in the Spurs side at the moment – striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.
Talking on talkSPORT, as quoted by the Sun, Lineker painted a very bleak picture for Arsenal fans.
“They didn’t have the squad to compete when Arsene Wenger was there let alone now, so what is Emery really supposed to have been able to do so far?” Lineker said.
“How many of their team would get in Tottenham, Manchester City or Liverpool’s side? Ask yourself that.
“One possibly? Aubameyang? That would be it. It’s way too early [to be speculating on Emery’s future], but that’s football in the modern day.”

This will delight Tottenham fans but Lineker makes a good point. Emery looked like he was starting to make inroads with Arsenal but the fact is that his squad is nowhere near good enough and he couldn’t do anything about it in the January window. Tottenham have a fantastic squad, by contrast, but there is one problem position. They’ve struggled finding a back-up striker to Harry Kane, and neither Vincent Janssen or Fernando Llorente have been able to prove they’re good enough. It’s unlikely they’d ever be able to attract someone of the quality of Aubameyang, with the likelihood that whoever comes in would be a deputy for Kane, but it’s a position they need to sort out in the summer. Someone like Daniel Sturridge would make a lot of sense. He’s a proven Premier League striker but will never make an impact in the Liverpool first-team. He might well be interested in being the man behind the main man at the new Tottenham stadium next season.
