Leeds United are in the hunt to re-sign Aaron Lennon from Burnley, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The reporter claimed via his personal Twitter account on Sunday that Lennon, 31, will be a target for the Whites in the summer once he has returned to full fitness.

The 21-times England international has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Burnley this season, scoring one Premier League goal in the process, but he has not featured since mid-December due to a knee injury.

Good move for Leeds?

Lennon is still a very good footballer, but injuries have started to get the better of him and there is a chance that he might not be good enough for Leeds if they are in the Premier League next season.

However the ex-Tottenham winger would be a superb signing for any club in the Championship.

Leeds dropped down to second in the Championship table on Saturday night but they are still a solid bet to win automatic promotion this season.

If the Whites don’t go up then Lennon would be a top buy, but if they are promoted they should probably be looking at better potential signings.

Likely to happen?

The January transfer window has only just closed and it is way too soon to start talking about summer targets.

A lot can happen between now and the end of the season, so the chances of the Whites actually maintaining their interest in Lennon up until the summer are slim.
