OPINION
Leeds fans have had to put up with an interminable list of injuries this season. But all of them paled into insignificance compared to what happened to young attacker Jack Clarke. He has been hugely impressive in his breakthrough season, dazzling Leeds fans with his attacking play, and getting himself on the radars of clubs such as Tottenham and Man City. But the fairytale story threatened to come crashing down when the 18-year-old collapsed towards the end of the recent Championship game with Middlesbrough. Clarke was sent for tests but the club remained silent over what was wrong, leading some fans to fear the worst, until they revealed that he was suffering from a virus ahead of yesterday’s pre-match press conference. Phil Hay delivered the good news on his Twitter account and many Leeds fans flocked onto Twitter to delight in the younsgter getting the all-clear. There’s no word as to when Clarke will be back in action again, though. He is doing light gym work this week and could resume outdoor training next week, albeit not with the first-team, but it does sound like he will play again this season. And, above all else, the more serious implications of his collapse have been ruled out.
Update on Jack Clarke – tests showed he was suffering from a virus. He’s doing indoor gym work this week and will do outdoor work next week, though not with the first team yet. #lufc

Bad news that he fell ill like that, but great that it wasn't anything more serious. You never want to see a promising career like his cut short early.
