Jack Clarke is “doing fine  but still having checks” according to Phil Hay, senior reporter with the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The young Leeds attacker was taken ill towards the end of the 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.

He had been subbed at half-time but complained of feeling unwell and was subsequently given treatment on the sidelines and taken to hospital.

He was ruled out of the squad to face Swansea on Wednesday night and has missed training this week.

Hay delivered the update on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning.

OPINION

The Jack Clarke situation was hugely worrying on Saturday, with fans desperate to know what was going on. Thankfully, after extensive treatment was given at pitch side, it was reported that Clarke was responding to treatment at hospital. It must have been scary for the young attacker though, with the world at his feet after a stunning start to the season for Leeds. The good news is that he seems to be doing well, although we must stress that checks are still ongoing. This shows that Leeds are doing the right thing and taking it seriously. Leeds fans will be hoping first and foremost that Clarke recovers 100% and then that he could return to the side and make an impact in the final stages of the season. After tonight’s game Leeds have a 10-day break before their next game against Bolton a week on Saturday. By then, Marcelo Bielsa may well have a full squad to choose from for the first time this season, with Gaetano Berardi, Stuart Dallas, Barry Douglas and Adam Forshaw all expected to be back.
