Everton attacking midfielder Kieran Dowell has made a grand total of five appearances for the Toffees with the club opting to loan him out to taste regular senior football instead.

The 21-year-old spent his 2017/18 campaign featuring for Nottingham Forest and is currently on loan with Sheffield United.

Dowell showed glimpses for Forest, particularly in the first-half of their campaign, that he was a player capable of playing at the highest level, however his form notably dipped in the second half of the season.

This didn’t aid his cause to break into the Toffees’ first-team upon returning to Goodison Park and it was quite a surprise that the Premier League side opted to not send him straight back out on loan.

However when January came around, the Toffees ensured he got a temporary exit from the club as they lent his services to Sheffield United.

Since arriving at the Blades, Dowell has impressed in his eight leagues outings for them with his performance in the 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday being the highlight so far.

The 21-year-old scored the only game of the game to ensure his side beat the Baggies, and showed off his creative vision, ability to play a cutting through ball and just his general toughness to handle the physicality of the Championship.

Many Everton fans will be hoping Toffees boss Marco Silva was watching Dowell play for Sheffield United on Saturday as it would no doubt have convinced him of the player’s talent.

After only getting a handful of chances to feature at Goodison Park, it’s clear that the talented youngster must play a part for the Toffees next season as he is clearly ready to aid their cause.
