Stan Collymore does not appear too happy with Brendan Rodgers’ decision to quit Celtic and become the new manager of Leicester.

It was confirmed on Tuesday that the 46-year-old has left Celtic Park after just over two and a half years, with Neil Lennon returning to Glasgow to become the Bhoys’ interim manager.

Collymore was asked about Rodgers’ decision and he delivered his verdict with a six-word tweet in Irish via his personal Twitter account.

“Filleann an feall ar an bhfeallaire,” Collymore said, which translates to: “What goes around, comes around.”

OPINION

Rodgers appears to have taken Celtic supporters by surprise with his decision to leave at this stage of the season. He had already achieved greatness at Celtic Park by winning two trebles in a row as well as going on a 69-game unbeaten run in the domestic games during that period. However he was on the cusp of something huge – three trebles in a row. It’s unheard of, not only in Scottish football but across the world. It just goes to show how big a draw the Premier League is. Leicester have nothing to play for this season except for what position they will finish in. They’re not going to get relegated and they’re not going to finish in a spot that seals continental qualification, yet Rodgers has decided to join them anyway. Leicester would not have waited until the summer but Rodgers probably should have. There could have been another opportunity in England at the end of the season. He’s jumped the gun and as Collymore has suggested, it might come back to bite him.
