OPINION
It is hard to pick many holes in Manchester City’s leisurely Sunday afternoon demolition of Chelsea, but many City fans were still left fuming by Kyle Walker’s performance. The England international is often picked out as the weak link in Pep Guardiola’s side, and the rout of the Blues was no different. Walker brings pace and stamina to the City flank, but his on the ball ability often leaves a lot to be desired, and for a player with such fantastic physical attributes and an attacking mindset, his end product is hugely disappointing. Against Chelsea it didn’t matter too much, if at all, and that is usually the case when City play a team. Because of that, a lot of his flaws get overlooked sometimes, but if they are to make that next step and become genuine Champions League contenders, you have to wonder if Walker is a good enough option to carry them through the tougher challenges. You’d have to say that there’s some doubt in it, but if City keep on steamrolling teams in the manner that they do then the question will be doe they need to improve on what they have? It’s a strange situation.
