Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has labelled Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham as a “major threat” ahead of the clash between the two sides on Friday evening.

He drooled over the 21-year-old’s “movement in the box”, highlighted by the fact that Villa are a side that cross the ball more than any other club in the Championship in the moment – and added that this is something that the Blades will have to be aware of.

Abraham has netted 19 goals in 26 games for Villa this season, and Wilder has identified the 6ft 3in [Transfermarkt] star as the key threat for his side.

“He’s got great movement in the box, so we have to be aware, they cross the ball more than any club in the division, so we will have to stop their crosses, obviously they are important jobs for people,” he said on The Alan Brazil Breakfast Show on talkSPORT [8.55am].

“We are obviously aware of him, he’s a major, major threat against us and for Villa.”

OPINION

Wilder is right to heap praise on Abraham in the way that he has, as he is going to be the biggest obstacle in Sheffield United getting all three points on Friday. Having scored 19 goals in 26 games this season, Abraham is no doubt the envy of the Championship and the one player who is going to define their success this season, especially if they get into the play-offs and have a shot at promotion. Like Wilder pointed out, Abraham has excellent movement in the box, something which has been a obvious strength for him this season. This has only been reinforced by the fact that Villa are a club who have crossed the ball into the box more than anyone, and this is something that the Blades will have to put a stop to. They will need to keep Abraham quiet on Friday, but that is going to be rather difficult based on his current form.
