Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has had his fair share of praise from some of the biggest names in the game – Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino to name two – and he can add another to the list after getting a shoutout from Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He has completely transformed Man United from a failing side to top-four contenders since taking over from Jose Mourinho and one of his best players has been Ander Herrera,

Talking ahead of the huge Premier League game between Man United and Liverpool, Solskjaer praised Bielsa for the player that Herrara has become.

“He covers every bit of grass on the pitch and has so much passion, energy and enthusiasm,” said Solskjaer on the BBC website (9.45).

“I remember when he played against us [United] for Bilbao. He has gone through a good school in Bielsa.”

OPINION

Guardiola said Beilsa was the best coach in the world and Pochettino said he owed him everything. Now, Solskjaer is the latest Premier League legend to heap praise on the maverick Argentinian. Solskjaer might be in the infancy of his managerial career but he became a legend as a player at Man United and he still remembers when Herrera played against them for Bilbao, with Bielsa as manager. He thinks that Bielsa has schooled him well and now the veteran manager is passing his skills onto Leeds’ Championship players. He’s taken them from 13th place last season to near the top and still favourites for automatic promotion. If they weren’t already aware how lucky they are, these comments from Solksjaer should make it a bit clearer. And the prospect of Leeds v Man United in the Premier League, with Bielsa in charge, is a mouth-watering one.
