OPINION
The fact that Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe is set to undergo scans on his knee today (Monday) will no doubt have many fans in frenzy.
He has scored 14 goals this season and he is arguably one of their best chances of achieving promotion to the Premier League, so they will definitely be worried about how long one of their star players could be sidelined for after the report from the Yorkshire Evening Post.
However, despite Patrick Bamford recently returning to the starting XI, this is a great chance for the young Tyler Roberts to step up to the plate and make the most of the opportunity he should be given.
He shone in the previous absence of Roofe earlier on in the season, so there is no reason why he cannot do the same again if the talisman ends up on the sidelines for a significant amount of time.
Roberts will have to fight it out with Bamford for a spot up front, but Bielsa must opt for the 20-year-old, seeing as he has already proved how effective he can be.
He has managed to score three goals in 18 appearances, and if Roofe is injured, he has the opportunity to increase that tally.
The fringe player has shown glimpses of what a great striker he could be in the future, and he must unleash the rest of that talent if Roofe ends up being seriously injured.
He is not going to be presented with such a good opportunity after this so he must make the most of it, especially with Bamford also gunning to make regular starts.
Roberts established himself as a favourite amongst the supporters in Roofe’s previous absence, and he could potentially become a new club hero if Marcelo Bielsa has his worst fears confirmed.
