Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has embarked on an angry Twitter rant after the Daily Mail ran a story that said Leeds might be sold if they fail to win promotion to the Premier League.

In an extraordinary allegation, he also questioned who was behind the article, hinting that someone or something is out to deliberately hurt Leeds.

The national paper claims that Radrizzani has gambled on winning promotion and getting the £200million windfall that comes with it.

They claim Bielsa will likely leave as well if Leeds don’t win promotion.

Following the story, Radrizzani sent a number of angry tweets, telling the journalist Craig Hope to come and talk to him before writing “nonsense” next time.

He added “I don’t know and don’t care about your goals”, before sending another tweet questioning who was behind the article and then saying “but seriously we don’t have time and energies for your mind games.”

In a third tweet he finished by saying, “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.”

OPINION

Andrea Radrizzani is not happy about this article and he took the extraordinary step of taking his beef onto Twitter for everyone to see. The timing of the article is poor, with Leeds deep in a fight to win promotion back to the Premier League. They play QPR tonight and after spygate it’s yet another off-the-pitch matter that could distract the club from what’s really important. In one tweet Radrizzani asks who is behind the article and seems to be hinting that it’s designed to hurt Leeds. We’re not sure if he’s hinting at other clubs or business interests, but it’s an extraordinary allegation. We’re not sure if there’s any truth behind the article but it would seem like good journalism to contact the owner and give him the right to reply before publishing something like this. As to Radrizzani’s extraordinary claim about sinister forces? We’re not sure if he’ll feel the same way in the cold light of day and sometimes Twitter can be an impulsive media and you can live to regret posts. Just ask Donald Trump.
