Leeds United sent scouts to Real Betis’ 3-3 draw in the Europa League on Thursday night.

This comes after it was reported that Leeds had tried until the end of the January transfer window to sign Betis attacker Jese Rodriguez.

25-year-old attacker Rodriguez came off the bench to set-up the equaliser in the draw against Rennes.

Reliable Twitter page Scouts in Attendance made the claim on Friday morning.

OPINION

The news about Leeds trying hard to sign Jese Rodriguez came out of left field this week, after Leeds had been adamant that they tried to sign Swansea winger Daniel James and had no other targets. The move would make sense though. Rodriguez has only made four appearances this season and is out of contract in the summer. Jese has Premier League experience with Stoke and has won two Champions League titles with Real Madrid. He would be a player who could offer a lot in the Premier League if Leeds get promoted, and if Victor Orta can land him for free then it would be a no-brainer. If Leeds were interested in him on loan with a view to a free deal in the summer, then it makes sense that they’ll carry on monitoring him this season before pouncing in the summer. Let’s not forget this is a player who cost £22.5million two years ago. His stock has fallen since then but you can only imagine what a manager like Bielsa could do with him.
