Leeds United winger Jack Clarke is set to miss training for the coming week and will undergo tests after falling ill in the club’s draw against Middlesbrough on Saturday, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Joe Urquhart.

The reporter claims on his personal Twitter account that the Whites insist everything looks okay with the teenager but that he is still set to sit on the sidelines for the next couple of days as examinations take place over his status.

He was stretchered off from the substitutes’ bench against Boro and is said to have spent the night with the medical staff at Elland Road.

Opinion

Clarke has proven to be one of the most exciting talents to come out of Leeds’ youth system in recent years and has established himself as one of Marcelo Bielsa’s top players this season. Dangerous either in the starting XI or off the bench, his no fear approach has seen him cause havoc among opposition defences and so to lose him for the next week, which will mean him sitting out the midweek clash against Swansea City, will not do their cause any good. Still, it was really worrying to see him receive treatment on the sidelines before being taken away and so it is good to hear that the club are feeling positive about him now. Better to lose him for a week than see him suffer for longer and so while the team could do with him playing, you can be sure they are all just hoping that he can make a swift recovery from whatever has struck him down.
