Mark Bosnich stated that Aston Villa should stick with manager Dean Smith as there is no use in changing mangers constantly.

The former Villans shot-stopper said that the Championship club made a call when they opted to get rid of Steve Bruce and hire Smith so they need to keep going in that direction.

Bosnich added that it takes a little bit longer than just a season for a manager to put their stamp on a club.

“They’ve got stick by him, they made a call with Steve Bruce, they made a call to go in this direction, there’s no use now starting to change managers left right and centre,” said Bosnich on talkSPORT (Monday February 18th 7:42am)

“It does take a little bit more than just a season y’know, put it that way.”

OPINION

While Bosnich isn’t overly praising Smith or anything like that, the Villans boss will no doubt appreciate the 47-year-old’s public backing. Smith has come under fire as of late, with results continuing to go against his side. In fact the Villans’ chance of reaching the play-offs this season are starting to look slimmer and slimmer with each passing game, as they keep dropping the ball. Aston Vila lost 2-0 to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday and that result has left the noticeably of the pace of six-placed Bristol City. The Villans currently sit nine points behind Lee Johnson’s side and could potentially be 12 points behind them soon enough, as Bristol City have a game in hand. Clubs do need stability in the dugout in order to be successful and you feel that while Smith may be under pressure, the axe is not looming over him just yet. However football is a funny game and things can change quickly to say the least.
