Aston Villa manager Dean Smith is expected to recall winger Albert Adomah in place of Anwar El Ghazi for his side’s trip to Brentford on Wednesday night.

The 31-year-old sat on the substitutes bench throughout last Friday’s bonkers 3-3 draw with Sheffield United, but Smith will surely recall him for the lacklustre El Ghazi here.

The Villa boss is unlikely to make any further changes to the team that rescued a point against Chris Wilder’s team, partly due to a lack of options available to him at this moment in time.

Lovre Kalinic has taken the number one shirt since Ørjan Nyland’s injury and will almost certainly keep his place against the Bees, while right back Alan Hutton is equally firmly entrenched and will surely start on the right hand side of the defence.

Tyrone Mings has already made a huge impact, for good and for ill, since joining Villa last month. He can expect to partner Tommy Elphick at the heart of the defence once again. Neil Taylor will likely resultantly keep his place at left back.

In midfield, Mile Jedinak will surely take up residence in front of the back four after starting against the Blades. Meanwhile, Conor Hourihane and John McGinn will likely continue further forward of the Australian.

Out wide, Adomah is expected to come in for El Ghazi. Jonathan Kodjia, meanwhile, will in all likelihood retain his place on the left flank. Tammy Abraham, as ever, is a near certainty to start up front.
