OPINION
Aston Villa posted an update on the recovery of injured goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland on their official Twitter account on Thursday. The video showed the summer signing on his feet and walking, a hugely positive step forward in his comeback from an Achilles rupture. Nyland suffered the injury in training over the New Year period and has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign. The setback was devastating for the player as he prepared to battle it out with January signing Lovre Kalinic for the number one shirt, but he at least looks to be making good progress in his recovery now. The reaction from much of the Villa support speaks to their frustration with the team’s current performances more than it does their eagerness for Nyland to return. They are fed up with things at the moment, and you can’t blame them after Wednesday’s turgid defeat to Brentford. However, this update is a rare piece of good news amongst the negativity at Villa Park at the moment.
