OPINION
Joe Ledley is available on a free transfer after agreeing to end his deal at Derby Country, and perhaps due to nostalgia and Tom Rogic’s latest injury setback, some Celtic fans are urging their club to re-sign the Wales international. Ledley only played four times for Derby this season and confirmed via his personal Twitter account on Friday that he had decided to quit Pride Park and search for a new club. Celtic have had their injury issues in the midfield this season and another issue was thrown up on Friday with it being confirmed that Rogic is out for six weeks. While Rogic is a good player and will be missed, Ledley will not be a good signing to replace him. Firstly he is a defensive midfielder and the Hoops already have a couple of other players who can sit back in the midfield, especially now that Scott Brown has signed a new deal. Secondly, Ledley is not as good as he once was. The 32-year-old has struggled to get into Derby’s side this term and if he was to stay in the English Championship, it would surely to be join a club that’s battling against relegation. Celtic need better than him and Brendan Rodgers is very unlikely to sign another aging free agent after Youssouf Mulumbu failed to impress.
