Surprise, surprise, Rangers have released a statement, this time to make it clear that they are unhappy with the “flawed” disciplinary system that led to Allan McGregor and Alfredo Morelos being banned, despite appeals, for their antics against Aberdeen last week. Radio Clyde’s Superscoreboard Twitter account publicised the statement on Wednesday after McGregor was hit with a two-match suspension for a challenge on Lewis Ferguson. While that was the correct decision, it is clear that there decision-making in the Scottish FA is inconsistent at best. Some Celtic fans are getting immense joy of the Rangers’ latest statement, which is the second in the space of a few months after a previous statement about Daniel Candeias’ dismissal against St Mirren in November. They can keep on reeling off statements but it does not seem like much is going to happen. Scottish football needs VAR and it needs an upheaval in the Scottish FA’s disciplinary system. That probably won’t happen, unless Rangers and Celtic join forces. And what are the chances of that happening?
