OPINION

Rangers’ managing director Stewart Robertson has caused quite a stir with his accusation that the BBC have vilified Alfredo Morelos and are biased in their coverage of the Ibrox club. Understandably, BBC Scotland’s chief sports writer Tom English has not taken sides with Robertson and has suggested that the Gers chief is deflecting attention from the current matter at hand – another title heading to Celtic Park. Many Celtic fans have reacted to English’s tweet, defending the BBC’s coverage and accusing Rangers of paranoia, which sounds about right to be honest. Morelos deserves his ban. It wasn’t a “trial by Sportscene” or whatever Robertson wants to call it, it was the Scottish FA making the correct decision to dismiss his appeal after a correct in-game decision by Bobby Madden. Celtic fans have every right to be bemused by Robertson’s comments, as does the BBC. Scottish football has always been a circus, but in the last month it has reached a new level of absurdity. Rangers always seem to be right in the middle of it.
