OPINION
Kemar Roofe is not the only Leeds United forward in the form of his life. Mallik Wilks has also been flying in recent times, and celebrated signing a new contract with his parent club on New Year’s Day with his second consecutive man-of-the-match performance as his loan club Doncaster Rovers thumped Rochdale 5-0. Wilks did not add to his eight goals for the League One outfit this season but provided his sixth assist in all competitions and further evidence of the talent that has convinced Leeds to extend his stay at Elland Road until the summer of 2022. Simultaneously, United have agreed to extend Wilks’ loan to Doncaster until the end of the campaign.

Many Leeds fans are thrilled at the deal, with one predicting he could even bang in 25 goals next season in the Premier League, if they seal promotion. Others are impressed the club are investing in a 20-year-old who has graduated from the youth ranks, although a few supporters are disappointed that it is Wilks who has penned a new deal rather than their 13-goal top scorer Roofe.
