COMMENTARY
Aston Villa were reported as being in the hunt for Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter by the Irish Independent and a large number of Villans fans took to Twitter to share they’d be keen on the 29-year-old arriving at Villa Park. The newspaper claimed that Arter’s current loan with Premier League side Cardiff City could be cut short and that the Villans as well as Watford had an expressed an interest in him as a result. The defensive-minded midfielder has played 19 times for Neil Warnock’s side this season but was left out of Cardiff’s squad for Saturday’s game against Newcastle United. If Arter, who earns £40,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac) is to become available then it would be a smart move for the Villans to go in for him, however their priority in January should still be regarding bring new defenders through the door, even if one fan below believes Arter is what they need. Dean Smith’s current defence is a mess in many ways and needs new faces urgently.
