Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty is being eyed up by Hull City and a number of other Championship sides for a loan after impressing in the first half of the season at Shrewsbury Town, according to journalist Tom Carnduff.

The Sporting Life reporter claims on his personal Twitter account that the 22-year-old has attracted the attention of the Tigers, who sit 10th in the second tier of English football, after netting seven goals and chipping in with seven assists for the League One outfit.

Docherty was shipped out from Ibrox for a season-long deal to Shrewsbury by manager Steven Gerrard, but it is stated that he could move elsewhere this month.

Opinion

Docherty has been tearing it up with his current club and so it is no surprise to see him attracting the interests of those a division above the level he is in now. He seems unlikely to be in with much of a chance of breaking into the Rangers first team right now and so needs to make sure that if he does move that he is playing regularly to help his development. Will he get that at Hull City? The Tigers have found their form of late and are climbing up the Championship table so it appears as though Nigel Adkins feels as though the young Rangers talent could well make the difference in the second half of the season. His seven goals and seven assists are an impressive record for a midfielder and he himself might be wanting to prove that he can play at a higher level than what he is currently facing.
