West Ham have approached Stoke City with a late enquiry about Mame Biram Diouf, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed via their live transfer blog on Thursday [03:09pm] that Burnley and Hull have also asked about the former Manchester United attacker, who has not played a league game for the Potters since mid-November.

Diouf, 31, has only made nine appearances in all competitions this season for Stoke, who are currently 15th in the Championship.

Good move for West Ham?

Even if it is just an approach to ask about Diouf, why would West Ham think that signing him would be a good idea?

The Senegal international cannot get onto the bench of a bottom-half Championship club right now and there is no way that he would get close to Manuel Pellegrini’s first team at the London Stadium.

Stoke will more than likely want Diouf off their books, but the Hammers shouldn’t try to sign him, even if the Potters were willing to pay them.

Likely to happen?

Luckily for West Ham fans, it’s very unlikely that Pellegrini would stoop this low at this late stage on transfer deadline day.

The transfer window slams shut at 11pm and it does not seem as though the Irons will do much, if any, business in the final hours.
