West Brom are considering making a move to bring in Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings on loan for the second half of the season, according to the Express and Star.

The 25-year-old has struggled with injuries since joining the Cherries for £8 million in 2015, and has made just seven appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.

The Express and Star report Bournemouth are likely to allow Mings to leave once they complete the £13million signing of Chris Mepham this month.

Good move for West Brom?

Mings is a quality player who has had a terrible run of luck with injuries and who will be desperate to just get back playing on a regular basis. On the face of it, Darren Moore has plenty of options at the back, and another defender isn’t what’s needed, but, if other players do leave, and with the inevitable slog of a Championship promotion push bound to take its toll, it’ll be no surprise if the Baggies do opt to bring in another body. Versatile and athletic, with good experience of the second tier, Mings would be a real asset.

Likely to happen?

Mings might look at the wealth of options already at the Hawthorns and wonder why he would go to a Championship club to player second fiddle when he can do the same thing in the Premier League. If he can be reassured of regular first team football, however, which he surely would have a good chance at, then it could be a different story. For now, the interest is in its infancy, but it could really benefit both player and club.
