Tottenham Hotspur have decided against pursuing a move for Hull City winger Jarrod Bowen this month, according to Football London.

The outlet claims that Mauricio Pochettino’s side held discussions over the 22-year-old, before coming to an agreement that January was not the time to move for the Tigers star.

Bowen has been in electric form for Nigel Adkins’s team this campaign, netting 14 times in 28 games as Hull have rebounded from a tough start this term to land in 12th in the Championship table.

The Daily Mirror reported that Spurs were lining up a £12million move for the player earlier this month.

OPINION

This is an interesting one, because it would appear that now is the perfect time to move for a goalscoring talent like Bowen. Spurs have Harry Kane and Dele Alli both out injured, meaning that Pochettino’s side are a little light on goals right about now. An excellent young talent like Bowen would help alleviate that problem, but it doesn’t seem like it’s meant to be. Bowen is a terrific young player, and he’s tearing up the Championship this season, so it’s a bit strange that Tottenham aren’t going to make an official move for him. He would revolutionise their attack and give the team much more attacking spark when Kane isn’t playing. The club must have its reasons for deciding against Bowen, but none of them likely make much sense. He is just what they need right now and to seemingly decide against swooping for him is baffling in the extreme.
