Chris Sutton has claimed that it was the “correct decision” for Rangers’ Scottish Cup clash against Cowdenbeath at Central Park to be postponed.
It has been confirmed that the Friday night fixture will now take place on January 30 after a late pitch inspection revealed that the Central Park pitch was unplayable.

Although ex-Celtic star Sutton believes that it is a blow for Cowdenbeath to have the game rescheduled for later in the month, he stands by the official decision.
“Game off at Cowdenbeath tonight… sad for Cowdenbeath but the correct decision,” he said via his personal Twitter account.

OPINION
Without being on the pitch, it’s hard to say for certain whether or not this is the correct decision, but Rangers fans will not be happy with it in the slightest, especially as the pitch has more than likely been in a similar condition all day. A lot of supporters would have been making their way to Fife for the fixture, but will now have to turn around and head back home. There have been reports on Twitter that it was just one corner of the pitch that led to the game being postponed, which is a bit ridiculous when an image of the concerned area looks like it is covered in sand. There is surely something that can be done to fix the issue rather than just postpone it. Like Sutton says, it’s a big blow for Cowdenbeath as well. They will make a lot of money for a club their size from this fixture and having it rescheduled will likely mean a lower attendance. If the weather gets worse in the next week or so, it might be yet another postponement.
