Tottenham were given a boost, of sorts, on Friday with the news that Moussa Sissoko is only going to be out for around two weeks.

The fitness update came ahead of Tottenham’s pre-match press conference for the Fulham game on Sunday.

Initial reports had got him as being out for a month after suffering an injury in the game against Man United.

ESPN journalist Ben Pearce delivered the official fitness update on his personal Twitter account on Friday afternoon.

This is good news for Tottenham, who were facing the prospect of losing him for a whole month. Sissoko has been a key player for Tottenham this season, and with Harry Kane out too, Mousa Dembele sold to China, Son at the Asian Games and Lucas Moura and Victor Wanyama still on the comeback from injury, this will be a welcome respite for manager Mauricio Pochettino. He will still have to cope without him for the game on Sunday, against Fulham, and Pochettino might have to rely on a combination of Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp in midfield. They should still have too much for Fulham though and each game will and win will be one Pochettino can chalk off the board in the wait for Kane and Son’s return. If they can get through this period without any major damage it will be testament to Pochettino and the quality and depth of his squad.
