Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko has issued a positive-sounding update on his injury blow after being forced off in the clash against Manchester United on Sunday.

The French star was among the starting XI for Mauricio Pochettino but failed to see out the first half as he suffered what looked like a worrying muscle injury, initially trying to run the problem off before being replaced by Erik Lamela shortly before the half time whistle.

Taking to his personal Instagram account the former Newcastle man seemed hopeful of a swift recovery from his setback in a story post which featured the promising words: “I will be back soon.”

Sissoko, who prior to kick off was worryingly one of the only fit central midfielders available to Mauricio Pochettino, was not the only injury blow against the Red Devils with Harry Kane limping off after the full time whistle in the 1-0 defeat.

Opinion

While Harry Kane’s injury setback is the news which stole the headlines – after the result, of course – there should also have been plenty of worried faces among the Spurs faithful after Sissoko limped off. The French star has been a revelation this season and has put in some top class performances after two years of being deemed not good enough by the supporters. He was well deserving of his starting role against United and it could be that Pochettino’s reliance on him, having played Sissoko in most matches over the intense festive period, that has caused this problem to flair up. It sounds like it is good news for the Lilywhites, who really cannot do with losing another of their central midfielders right now, and Sissoko will be focused on making sure he is fully fit and ready for action before stepping back onto the pitch. Could that be next weekend against Fulham? He would have had a week to recover but it would be a surprise to see him back that early. Still, the French international is a fighter and will be doing all he can to be fit for Pochettino sooner rather than later.
