Alan Shearer delivered an excited verdict on Newcastle’s amazing win against Man City in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
Despite going a goal down in the first 25 seconds to a Sergio Aguero goal, Newcastle dug in and staged an amazing comeback that really dents man City’s title aspirations.
Salomon Rondon put them on their way with an equaliser after 66 minutes before Matt Ritchie scored the winner from the spot after Fernandinho gave away a needless foul.
Shortly after the game Shearer posted his reaction on his personal Twitter page saying, “TOON TOON a brilliant result and performance”.

Wow, we weren’t expecting this and we doubt any Newcastle fans were either after going a goal down in just 25 seconds. But, after that time, they contained the free-scoring side and looked threatening themselves when they were going forward. Still, no one expected that they’d come from behind to win and it caps an amazing day for Newcastle, after it was reported that they were going to break their transfer record for MLS attacker Miguel Almiron. The three points is an unexpected bonus and it’s definitely the result of the season for Rafa Benitez’ men. With Almiron on the way and possibly another two deals in the offing before the transfer deadline, this could really transform Newcastle’s season and they’ll believe they can push on and move away from a relegation battle now. Liverpool fans will be loving their former manager even more tonight too. They’re in a fantastic position to win the league now and a win against Leicester tomorrow will make them overwhelming favourites to win their first ever Premier League title.
