Alfredo Morelos’ wife has claimed on Instagram that the striker loves Rangers, but stopped short of confirming that he would stay at the club.
In a series of posts made to her personal Instagram story, Yesenia Morelos answered a variety of supporters’ queries, but left some aspects of the Colombian’s future uncertain.
When asked ‘How much does Morelos love Rangers?’, Yesenia replied ‘Much’.
When one fan asked if the 22-year-old was staying at Ibrox, however, his wife replied with a gif of a girl shrugging.
She also posted a shrugging emoji when asked if her husband would still be at Rangers in five years.
Morelos has scored 20 goals in all competitions so far this campaign.
OPINION
It’s hard to tell whether Yesenia’s comments represent a positive or a negative for Rangers fans. On the one hand, it’s reassuring that her husband loves the club, and it’s clear to anybody who watches him on a weekly basis how much the team means to him, but her noncommittal responses to direct questions over his immediate future are a little concerning. The Colombian has been unplayable at times this season, and it’s only natural that he is going to attract attention from a host of clubs, but the Gers will be hoping more than anything that they can keep a hold of him for the remainder of their title challenge at least. With Jermain Defoe drafted in to help him on the goalscoring front there is no saying how lethal Steven Gerrard’s side can can be when the campaign resumes, but so much of that hinges on them being able to persuade Morelos to stay put.
