Steven Gerrard has ruled out making moves for Ravel Morrison and Adam Lallana this January.

The two midfielders had been linked with switches to Rangers this winter, but manager Gerrard is adamant that the rumours are false.

Speculation was sparked after Morrison followed the ex-Liverpoolman and host of other Gers stars on Instagram.

The 25-year-old is currently out of favour at Italian side Lazio.

Lallana, on the other hand, has struggled for fitness this season, with the 30-year-old making just two starts for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool so far this season.

Gerrard has categorically denied that his side have any plans to move for either player, however.

As quoted in the Mirror, he said: “There’s no truth in either.”

OPINION

Rangers fans might be disappointed to hear that their club aren’t going to be bringing in two players of Lallana and Morrison’s calibre, but in truth either deal would have represented a massive risk for the Gers. Lallana is a top quality player, fully deserves a spot in the England national team set up when he his fit and firing, but this season he has been ravaged by injury and there’s no guarantee that he would be a dependable addition to the squad at Ibrox. You can sign Lionel Messi, but if he’s injured he’s no use to you, and Gerrard will prefer to stick with the experienced heads he already has in midfield. Similarly with Morrison, for all of his talent, and by all accounts he has a lot, he has yet to go anywhere and prove his discipline or attitude is up to the mark. Gerrard seems to demand a certain level of professionalism form his players, and he could well be looking at the former Manchester United man and thinking that he could do more harm than good to his squad.
