Dundee boss Jim McIntyre has confirmed that the club are in discussions with Rangers over making Glen Kamara’s summer move to Ibrox happen this month.

The Finland international signed a pre-contract agreement with Steven Gerrard’s men with his deal at Dundee coming to an end in the summer, having made 18 appearances across all competitions for his current club.

However McIntyre has hinted that the 24-year-old’s attentions are elsewhere now and confirmed that they were hoping for a transfer agreement to make his move happen during the winter window.

He told the Scottish Sun: “He has signed a pre-contract with Rangers and that’s where it lies at the moment.

“Ideally you would like to agree something because I think when a player decides to move — again it depends on what sort of mentality they have got — are they strong enough to stay and play?

“We will have more discussions. That’s all I can say.”

Opinion

Kamara appears to have already let the thought of his move to Rangers distract him from his current job and McIntyre is absolutely right in saying he wants him out if that is going to be the case. It not only gets rid of a player who clearly does not want to be at the club but it could earn Dundee a healthy little bit of profit for his sale, rather than losing him for nothing in the summer. As for Rangers, they will know that the more they strengthen this month, the better their chances of toppling Celtic at the top of the table and with every chance the Hoops could splash the cash this summer – the money from Moussa Dembele’s sale burning a hole in their pocket – this could be their best chance at sealing the Premiership title. A move this month suits all parties involved, but will they be able to reach an agreement, or will Kamara have to bide his time for his move to Ibrox? The clock is ticking, but do not be surprised to see him in light blue this month.
