COMMENTARY
There are few rivalries as fierce as that between Celtic and Rangers and that extends off the pitch – which is why the Hoops fans are fuming over the report by Sky Sports that the Light Blues are signing Jermaine Defoe. The Bhoys were said by the Scotsman to have been rivalling the Gers for the English veteran’s capture and so it is completely understandable as to why there is so much frustration among the Parkhead faithful. Brendan Rodgers is obviously in need of a new striker with Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard having been in and out of the side for various reasons and so has had to call upon a number of makeshift options. Defoe would have ticked a number of boxes, not least with his vast experience and excellent goal scoring record, and so to miss out on him not only to a league rival but one as bitter as Rangers is a massive setback both in terms of his signing and emotionally too.

No harm but Celtic need to get the finger out big time !!!!!!! Defoe going to Rangers ? I don’t care about his age the mans a proven goalscorer and will easily bag 15 – 20 goals from now to the end of the season !!!!

Can't even argue that Defoe isn't a good signing. Would have taken him in a heartbeat.

Rangers signing Jermain Defoe on loan, meanwhile Celtic are busy trying to call other club's bluffs about signing players (again)
