Celtic fans might think that their side are well equipped when it comes to their midfield options and they would be right – if there was not plenty of speculation about potential departures from Parkhead.

The Hoops know that recruitment this month – both by themselves and other clubs in the Premiership – could well determine the result of the top flight title race and with fierce rivals Rangers looking to have pulled off some impressive business Brendan Rodgers needs to get his finger out and follow suit.

However, while focusing on who they might want to bring into the club, the transfer team at the Bhoys will also have to deal with interest in their own stars and one man who looks like they could well be leaving in the near future is Olivier Ntcham.

The Scottish Sun claim Porto are very keen on the Frenchman’s capture and considering his bang average form this season there would probably not be too many Celtic fans who would rue his exit at the £14million fee – especially with a swap deal for Chancel Mbemba touted too.

However, losing a midfielder who has played 30 times across all competitions, regardless of his performances, is going to be a blow and so the Hoops need to find an upgrade on Ntcham if they are to green light his departure.

Step forward Manchester United’s Scott McTominay, the Scottish international linked by the Scotsman with a loan move to Parkhead under Jose Mourinho’s reign.

While the Portuguese boss has left, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival might well boost Celtic’s hopes of a deal, having featured for just one minute in the Premier League under the new manager.

With 22 top flight outings, McTominay would be a huge upgrade on Ntcham, who seems to have let his new contract go to his head, and so the Hoops need to ignite a move for him this month, pocketing that £14million and seeing Mbemba arrive.
