Tam McManus claimed that several teams were keen on borrowing Celtic defender Jack Hendry including his former side Dundee.

The BBC pundit, who frequently appears on Sportsound, revealed that the other clubs circling the 23-year-old centre-back were in England and that would be his preferred destination.

However McManus was quick to add in his brief tweet via his personal account on the matter that if a deal was going to happen for Hendry it would be probably a late one.

“Dundee are interested in taking Jack Hendry back on loan from Celtic,” tweeted the pundit.

“Clubs in England also interested and that would be his preferred destination, will probably be a late deal if it happens.”

OPINION

It seems Hendry will be sweating over getting a temporary exit from the club if McManus is right as the BBC pundit is effectively suggesting that any deal could go down to the wire. This means there is a very realistic chance that the 23-year-old could end up staying put and having to make do with the opportunities he gets at Celtic. Hendry has made only three appearances in the league this season and that is not a lot when you consider that Brendan Rodgers’ doesn’t exactly have tons of top-quality defensive options. It would be the best for the player if he secured a move away from Celtic on temporary basis but given that time is ticking down on the window and no concrete offer for his services has been reported as going in for him, you have to worry that he is set to be stuck where he is.
