Jim White revealed that he thought Steven Gerrard had done well getting the players in at Rangers this month after the club confirmed they had signed Matt Polster.

The Gers official website confirmed on Wednesday that the 25-year-old American midfielder had joined the club and White delivered his verdict on Rangers’ transfer business when relaying the news on talkSPORT.

White revealed that Gerrard had done well welcoming Polster, Steven Davies, Jermain Defoe and Andy Firth to Ibrox but if he was quite honest he expected the former England international to make an impression in Scotland.

“Rangers have just announced their latest signing in the form of Matt Polster, American midfielder who can also play at right-back, clinched his move after impressing Steven Gerrard on trial, now he has signed a two-and-a-half year deal, he joins up, follows in the footsteps of Steven Davies, Jermain Defoe and Andy Firth as new recruits at Ibrox,” said White on talkSPORT (Wednesday January 30th, 12:20pm).

“So there we go, done well he has Steven Gerrard getting them in there at Rangers, we knew he would make an impression up there to be quite honest, and he is doing that Gerrard.”

OPINION

It seems White approves of the transfer business Rangers have done so far, regardless if they manage to bring anyone else in before the window slams shut. The Gers certainly look stronger after adding several new faces to their squad especially when you consider the wealth of experience they bring between to them. Polster is the latest name to be recruited by Rangers in the current window and it seems like a smart move by all accounts. The 25-year-old’s versatility seems like it is going to be an asset and given that he had to personally impress Gerrard first hand while on trial to get his deal, all signs suggest he is going to play a notable part for the Gers in the second half of the season.  However only time will tell and Gerrard will have to play an important part in assuring that all his new recruits gel into squad.
