Rangers should snap up Scunthorpe United midfielder Funso Ojo as he could become a very valuable member of Steven Gerrard’s squad if recruited.

According to Scunthorpe Live the League One side are in no need to sell the 27-year-old but if an offer too good to turn down was to emerge, they’d take it.

The regional newspaper claim that Nottingham Forest and Derby County are showing an interest in Ojo due to his red-hot form over the last 18 months.

Yet given the midfielder’s versatility and the fact he currently looks like a big fish in a small pond given how easy he seems to be churning out outstanding performances for Scunthorpe, the Gers must swoop for him.

Ojo can play as a central midfielder, defensive or attacking midfielder and has previously dabbled on the flanks during his career, including one outing this season, as well as a right-back at one point.

Given that Steven Gerrard would benefit from having a player who is adaptable as the 27-year-old and his likely price tag won’t be too crazy as players in League One don’t go for prices out of the Gers’ realistic budget, so it makes sense to snap him up.

Ojo is a powerful presence in a side’s midfielder, shown by his impressive 24 displays for Scunthorpe this season, and is strong in the air as well as a reliable defence presence.

Also the midfielder will no doubt be eager to take his career to the next level with Rangers and it could see him go the extra mile when featuring for them as he will want to make the most of the opportunity of playing for them.

Therefore the Gers must snap up Ojo if he is set to leave Scunthorpe anytime soon as the versatile 27-year-old could be a real success story at Ibrox.
