Rangers could revive their interest in Liverpool winger Ben Woodburn after being alerted to his availability, according to the Sun.

The newspaper reports on their website that the Gers could swoop for Woodburn – who recently had his loan spell at Championship side Sheffield United terminated early – but face competition from the likes of West Brom, Blackburn, Brentford and Hull.

The report adds that any move that Gerrard may make for the hot-prospect hinges on his recovery from an ankle injury that has sidelined him for a month.

Good move for Rangers?

Yes, it would be a good move for the Gers – but only if Woodburn’s injury does not suddenly flare up again. The last thing Gerrard would want is to sign the player and then find him absent for a long period of time. Woodburn certainly does have the talent to thrive at a club like Rangers and another loan spell – one which will allow him to actually play – would do him the world of good in terms of his confidence.

Likely to happen?

Woodburn himself no doubt wants a loan spell in order to prove himself, so a move may be on the cards. However, another thing that could prove to be an obstacle is the fact four Championship clubs are also on the prowl for his services. This will be stiff competition for Gerrard, meaning a move would be rather difficult to pull off. That does not completely rule out signing him though – as Rangers may be his preferred destination.
