Rangers left-back Lee Hodson is a transfer target for English Championship clubs Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town this month, according to The Sun.

The newspaper report that the 27-year-old is of interest to the two Championship rivals, who are both battling against relegation to League One this season.

The Sun claim that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will listen to offers for Hodson, who is currently on loan at St. Mirren, with the left-sided player out of contract at Ibrox in the summer.

Good move for Rangers?

Absolutely.

Hodson has been deemed surplus to requirements at Ibrox this season, with the 27-year-old becoming a key player for St. Mirren on loan.

While St. Mirren will obviously be keen to keep hold of the player, Hodson remaining at the Premiership club for the remainder of the season would see Rangers lose out on a fee.

By selling him on this month they would be recouping some of the investment they have put into Hodson during his three-year stint in Glasgow.

Likely to happen?

It is hard to say at the moment.

Rangers will want to have a deal in place before recalling Hodson from St. Mirren, who then may be offered the chance to table a counter-bid to keep the 27-year-old permanently.

There is a lot to happen before a deal takes place, but it is definitely something which could happen.
