Hibernian boss Neil Lennon is hoping to bring Celtic midfielder Scott Allan to Easter Road this month after the 27-year-old signed a pre-contract agreement with the club, according to the Scottish Sun

The newspaper report that Hibs will try to secure a deal to sign Allan this month after the midfielder agreed to join the club on a three-year contract in the summer.

The Sun claim that Lennon is hopeful of striking such a deal with the Hoops after the 27-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by Brendan Rodgers having not played once for the senior side this term.

Good move for Celtic?

Yes.

Allan has not been a part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans at Parkhead for a long time, and keeping him around for another six months does not make any sense.

The 27-year-old will merely sit on the sidelines during that time and would be taking up valuable wage space which could be freed up for a new signing, such as Manchester United youngster Scott McTominay.

Letting him leave this month is a no-brainer for all parties, and Rodgers must make it happen.

Likely to happen?

Considering the fact that Rodgers has admitted there will be outgoings as well as incomings before the end of the month, you would think that Allan will be among that number.

It has also been said that Celtic need to free up space in midfield if they want to secure a deal for McTominay, and it could easily be Allan who makes way.
