Many fans across Scotland will feel that Rangers have managed to pull off something of a blinder by sealing pre-contract deals for Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara – but those at Ibrox will be wishing they had the duo to call upon immediately.

The pair are highly regarded in the Scottish top flight and few will argue they are undeserving of a move to Ibrox after their impressive displays.

However, rather than waiting until summer, Steven Gerrard could well have his hands on Kamara a little bit sooner.

Dundee boss Jim McIntyre has revealed that the 24-year-old is a possible signing for the Gers this month, revealing talks between the two clubs over a move to the Scottish Sun.

McIntyre has admitted he is keen to offload the Finland star and Rangers would no doubt be happy to take him off his hands for a cut price – but what does that mean for the current squad at Ibrox.

With Steven Davis already through the door, it could be two new midfielders in Glasgow and that does not bode well for a pair already at Ibrox; Lassana Coulibaly and Jordan Rossiter.

The former is on loan from French outfit SCO Angers but after being a mainstay in the side has found himself falling down the pecking order, Scott Arfield, Ryan Jack and Ross McCrorie just three players who are clearly ahead of him.

As for Rossiter, he has found game time a near impossibility this season with just five appearances, injury having done nothing to help his cause at the club.

While Davis might be a veteran with only a few more years on the clock, Kamara has plenty of time to forge his career and as such is a long-term threat to the first team status of every other midfielder at Rangers.

However, Coulibaly, being on loan and having fallen out of favour somewhat with Gerrard, and Rossiter, with his dreadful injury record and lack of progress as a youngster, are those most in the firing line, and are surely fighting for their lives as Kamara is readied to come in this month.
