Wolverhampton Wanderers have made fantastic progress this season, but at times they have been let down by their lack of cutting edge in the final third.

That has been helped recently by Diogo Jota’s return to form, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s side could still use a little extra va va voom in the final third.

Enter Birmingham City’s Adams, who the Daily Mirror report has been watched by Wolves recently. Unfortunately for Wolves, it is their Premier League rivals Southampton who are said to have made the first move for the 22-year-old, submitting a bid of £8million.

While that likely won’t be enough to snare the youngster, it should wake Wolves up to the possibility of losing out on Adams. This is a player that they desperately need, and they cannot allow other Premier League teams to get in ahead of them.

Adams has scored 14 goals this season in a phenomenal campaign to date for the Blues. He has taken the Championship by storm in recent years and is clearly ready for the step up to the top flight.

He is just the right sort of footballer to play alongside Jota and Raul Jimenez next season – if Santo’s side succeed in signing the Mexican permanently.

Adam has the mobility and the technical quality to operate as part of a fluid front line where the attackers are all interchanging. He and Jota could swap sides at will, creating a maelstrom of attacking energy around Jimenez which would be extremely difficult to stop.

Obviously competition for Adams will be fierce, he is a young, proven English talent after all. However, Wolves can lay down a marker by securing a player who would revolutionise their attack.
