Wolves striker Rafa Mir has revealed his “only wish” is to keep playing for Las Palmas this season in a bid to secure promotion at his loan side.

The 6’3″ giant (source: Transfermarkt) joined the second tier Spanish club on a season long loan deal over the summer and has been a regular for the Gran Canaria outfit, scoring four goals in his 15 league outings.

Probed over whether he could make a possible return to Molineux, 21-year-old Mir insisted his focus was on his current side, revealing his happiness despite an average return in front of goal.

He told La Provincia: “I’m fine here, I’m happy on the island. My only wish is to try to help take the UD Las Palmas to the place it deserves.”

Opinion

With Raul Jimenez banging the goals in for Wolves in the Premier League, why would Nuno Espirito Santo even be thinking about taking Mir back from his loan spell? His record in Spain’s second tier is nothing to write home about and while Wolves could do with a new striker to back the first choice hitman up, Mir is hardly the man to fill that void. It is good to hear that he is happy playing his football with Las Palmas and consistency in terms of his teammates and where he is playing should help his development more than chopping and changing half way through the season. The youngster has plenty of time to develop as a striker and will be setting his sights on becoming a fringe figure at Molineux next season, but this campaign is all about firing his loan side to the top flight in Spain.
